Vatican workshop on ethics in AI open to public

The Pontifical Academy for Life is set to host a workshop on ethics in artificial intelligence, which is open to the public.

The Vatican event takes place on 26-28 February, and follows last year’s related workshop on ethics in robotics.

Anyone is welcome to take part in the “Workshop 2020 on Artificial Intelligenceâ€, provided they .

Participants will explore AI in terms of ethics, law, and health.

The first two days of the study session will be spent discussing the question: “The ‘good’ algorithm?â€.

The last day is dedicated to “RenAIssance: A Human-Centric Artificial Intelligenceâ€.

Addressing ethics of AI

Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, the President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, says the Academy has dedicated 2019-2020 to “robo-ethics and to ethical-anthropological questions connected to the so-called artificial intelligence.â€

ÐÓMAPµ¼º½ Francis, he says, had urged the Academy “to enter the territories of science and technology and to follow them with courage and discernment.â€
