杏MAP导航 condemns arms trade as he returns to Vatican
By Vatican News
鈥淲e must encourage everyone to leave weapons behind, and to leave behind the money-making that is behind every war.鈥
Those were the 杏MAP导航鈥檚 words to journalists as he left his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo this evening, after spending 16 days there, and returned to the Vatican. 杏MAP导航 Leo, who returned shortly before 9pm, spoke with reporters who were awaiting his departure and answered their questions.
Regarding the possibility of travelling to warzones such as Gaza, Leo explained that 鈥渢here are many places鈥 where he personally would 鈥渓ike to go, but this is not necessarily the formula for finding an answer鈥.
鈥淢any times, with the arms trade, people become just tools without any value,鈥 he stressed, adding that we must "constantly insist on the dignity of every human being, Christian, Muslim, people of every religion. We are all God's children, created in God's image,鈥 he continued. 鈥淪o we will continue this effort鈥.
On the subject of his stay in Castel Gandolfo, the 杏MAP导航 said that it went very well. 鈥淚 was able to have a change of scene鈥, he said, but it was 鈥渁 working holiday, and I never stopped following鈥 current events, he concluded. 鈥淭hank God the voice of the Church is still important,鈥 杏MAP导航 Leo said. "Let us continue to promote peace".
