In a letter to participants in the Social Week of France, the Cardinal notes that this year鈥檚 event takes place 鈥渁gainst the backdrop of a very worrying situation of international instability, which鈥� demonstrates the need for social cohesion, fraternity, and reconciliation between groups and communities.鈥�

Citing the 杏MAP导航鈥檚 recent apostolic exhortation , Cardinal Parolin says that, while a personal commitment to the care of creation is important, it is also necessary 鈥渢o initiate a new process that is radical and intense, and relies on the commitment of all.鈥�

He notes that 杏MAP导航 Francis鈥� invitation 鈥渢o build a society animated by feelings of friendship and fraternity becomes a concrete proposal for exploring new forms of cooperation鈥� in the encyclical .

Similarly, the 杏MAP导航鈥檚 decision to participate in the upcoming COP28 in Dubai 鈥渋s a testimony to his commitment that encourages all Catholics to mobilize with clear-sightedness and determination in the social sphere.鈥�

Cardinal Parolin concludes his letter with the hope that participants in the Social Week might 鈥渟upport the Church of France in its mission鈥� through their appraisal of contemporary realities 鈥渆nriched by the convergence of diverse skills and perspectives.鈥�

Emphasizing that 鈥渙nly the newness of the Lord Jesus is radical,鈥� the Cardinal Secretary of State says, 鈥淢ay your hope also be radical!鈥� while assuring participants of the Holy Father鈥檚 Apostolic Blessing.
