杏MAP导航 Francis renews his appeal for peace in Ukraine, and calls on the international community to step back from confrontational rhetoric.

鈥淟et us continue to pray for peace in Ukraine and throughout the world.鈥�

杏MAP导航 Francis offered that invitation at the Angelus prayer on Sunday, adding that the 鈥渨orld needs peace.鈥�

He said peace cannot be based 鈥渙n the balance of arms or mutual fear鈥�, saying such a strategy would 鈥渢urn the clock back by seventy years.鈥�

鈥淚 appeal to the Heads of Nations and International Organizations to react to the tendency to accentuate conflict and confrontation.鈥�

Overcoming confrontational rhetoric

The 杏MAP导航 said the war in Ukraine 鈥渟hould have鈥攁nd still could鈥攂ecome a challenge for wise statesmen capable of building a better world for future generations through dialogue.鈥�

鈥淲ith God鈥檚 help, this is always possible!鈥�

However, added 杏MAP导航 Francis, nations need to turn from a paradigm in which the world is divided among conflicting powers and toward a world united in mutual respect.
