杏MAP导航 at Angelus in Budapest: may the Cross link your past and future

Before the recitation of the Angelus prayer in Budapest's Heroes' Square, 杏MAP导航 Francis thanks all religious and civil authorities, as well as the people of Hungary, and urges them to use the Cross as a bridge between the past and the future.

Before reciting the Angelus prayer concluding the Mass of the Eucharistic Congress in Budapest, 杏MAP导航 Francis spoke of the word 鈥淓ucharist鈥, explaining that it means 鈥渢hanksgiving鈥.

鈥淎t the end of this celebration that concludes the International Eucharistic Congress and my visit to Budapest, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart,鈥 said the 杏MAP导航.

He thanked what he described as 鈥渢he great Hungarian Christian family鈥, which, he continued, 鈥淚 would like to embrace in its rites, its history, its brothers and sisters, both Catholic and those of other confessions: all journeying towards full unity.鈥

The 杏MAP导航 then said "thank you" in Hungarian to all the people of Hungary. He expressed his wish that the Cross be their 鈥渂ridge between the past and the future.鈥 My wish is that you be 鈥済rounded and open, rooted and considerate,鈥 added the 杏MAP导航. 

Beatifications in Poland

杏MAP导航 Francis then went on to note that Sunday also marks the beatification, in Warsaw, of Cardinal Stefan Wyszy艅ski and Elizabeth Czacka, Foundress of the Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross.

鈥淏oth were familiar with the Cross first-hand,鈥 noted the 杏MAP导航. He explained that Cardinal Wyszy艅ski, the Primate of Poland, who was arrested and imprisoned, 鈥渨as always a courageous Pastor according to the heart of Christ and a herald of freedom and human dignity.鈥 Sister Elizabeth, who as a young girl lost her sight, 鈥渄evoted her whole life to assisting the blind,鈥 he added.

Finally, concluding his address, 杏MAP导航 Francis invited all those gathered to pray the Angelus, on this day 鈥渨hen we venerate the Most Holy Name of Mary鈥. Finally, he said, 鈥渨ith you and for you I say: Isten, áldd meg a magyart! [May God bless the Hungarian people!]."
