In brief remarks to the athletes, the Holy Father highlighted two important attitudes in sport: the spirit of the team, and the amateur spirit.
Teamwork and an amateur spirit
鈥淎lways work as a team,鈥� the 杏MAP导航 said, because 鈥渋f there is no team, there is no sport.鈥� He warned about those who want 鈥渢o go it alone,鈥� who ultimately achieve nothing, or who damage the team by being concerned only with their own image.
He encouraged them, too, to 鈥渘ever lose the amateur spirit,鈥� insisting, 鈥淭rue sport is amateur.鈥�
