The importance of local news

Local news and information, said the 杏MAP导航, is actually more genuine and authentic because it communicates 鈥渢he voice of the people鈥�, in all aspects of peoples鈥� social, cultural and spiritual life.

Local information gives space to local realities and cultures, he said, to news that would not be broadcast otherwise. More than ever, said the 杏MAP导航, we need news to be communicated completely and thoughtfully, 鈥渟o as to encourage reflection鈥�.

Different kinds of globalization

杏MAP导航 Francis explained the difference between what he called 鈥渉armful globalization and good globalization鈥�. The latter 鈥渦nites us, and can help us to be members of one another鈥�, he said. Harmful globalization, on the other hand, 鈥漨akes everyone the same, rather than valuing diversities, cultures, histories and traditions鈥�.

The sphere and the polyhedron

The second, he said, is to transmit that reality to a wider audience. It also means giving 鈥渧oice to poverty, challenges, and local emergencies鈥�, as well as to 鈥渢estimonies of faith鈥�.

Telling the stories

杏MAP导航 Francis concluded by encouraging television journalists and staff to continue telling the stories, and making known 鈥渢hose authentic realities that are still found in many corners of Italy: realities that do not give in to indifference, that do not remain silent in the face of injustice, that do not follow fashions.
