杏MAP导航 Francis on Wednesday continued his catechesis on the Holy Eucharist during his , focusing his attention on the Gloria and the opening prayer of the Mass.
Speaking to the estemated 7 thousand pilgrims and tourists gathered in the Paul VI hall, the 杏MAP导航 recalled the rite of reciting the Ancient hymm 鈥淕lory to God in the highest鈥.
Echoing the song of the angelus, at our Lord鈥檚 birth, said the Holy Father, 鈥渨e praise the mercy of the Father in sending his Son who takes away the sins of the world.鈥 杏MAP导航 Francis noted that 鈥渢he Opening Prayer is also called the 鈥淐ollect鈥, because it gathers up and presents to the Triune God all our individual prayers.鈥
Importance of silence
The 杏MAP导航 went on to explain that the priest鈥檚 invitation, 鈥淟et us pray鈥, is followed by a moment of silence, and he urged priests 鈥渘ot to rush鈥 but respect these silent moments, adding that without this silence we risk 鈥渘eglecting the recollection of the soul鈥. Silence, said 杏MAP导航 Francis means being ready to listen to one鈥檚 heart and above all, the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Concluding his catechesis, the Holy Father underlined that 鈥渂y reflecting on these rich prayers, and uniting ourselves with the Church in lifting them up to God, we see how the liturgy becomes for each Christian a true school of prayer.鈥
