Fr. Faltas: We must point path to peace, like John the Baptist
By Devin Watkins
On Sunday, 杏MAP导航 Francis launched a heartfelt appeal for an end to armed conflicts and a firm condemnation of war as 鈥渁 crime against humanity.鈥
鈥淲ar itself is a crime against humanity. People need peace. The world needs peace,鈥 said the 杏MAP导航 at the Sunday Angelus prayer.
He also mentioned a program he had seen on an Italian TV channel just minutes before, in which the Vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land appeared as a guest.
Fr. Ibrahim Faltas had spoken about the need to 鈥渆ducate for peace.鈥
The 杏MAP导航 agreed with him, and relaunched the Franciscan friar鈥檚 appeal.
鈥淲e must educate for peace,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t seems that we are not yet鈥攁ll of humanity鈥攚ith a sufficient education to stop every war. Let us always pray for this grace: to educate for peace.鈥
Fr. Faltas: 鈥楯esus is justice and peace鈥
In response, Fr. Faltas sent thanking the 杏MAP导航 for his concern for people suffering in the Holy Land due to the Israel-Hamas war.
鈥淩ight now,鈥 said Fr. Faltas, 鈥渨e need to learn from John the Baptist how to cry out and show the path to follow.鈥
Jesus, he added, is 鈥渢he way. He is forgiveness, justice, love, and peace.鈥
鈥淚f we follow Jesus, we will truly have peace and there will be no war,鈥 said Fr. Faltas.
He noted that there are over 60 ongoing wars in the world, calling the global situation 鈥渦tter confusion.鈥
鈥淲e want to live in peace,鈥 concluded Fr. Faltas. 鈥淲e want to follow Jesus, so we will have peace throughout the world.鈥
